“BE STRONG”

“Don’t be sad”

“you need to put others first”

“BE MORE LIKE …”

If any of these phrases sound familiar, or if you can think of some phrases you tell yourself that are similar, you are not alone. I hear from clients all the time that they “should be this” or that they are “too much”, or “not enough”. Phrases like these are reflections of internalized narratives that we have absorbed over the course of our lives. These narratives have been created by the social structures that we exist in - our families, neighborhoods, communities, jobs, media influences, political systems, cultural systems, medical systems, and inherited ancestral stories. When these narratives clash with our lived experiences, we become disconnected with ourselves and with our relationships. We might experience this clash in our bodies as anxiety, depression, confusion, fatigue, burnout, and more - interrupting alignment with ourselves and others.

Finding alignment with ourselves helps us embody new narratives that are congruent and empowering. We work together to get to know how the narrative you are living came to be. We un-blend the mix of parts that make up who you are to understand how those parts help, and what they need. As you get to know your story and the stories of your parts, you gain more insight into your sense of Self. The Self that has inherited wisdom, creativity, compassion, perseverance, and more. The part of you that deserves to take up space, connect in meaningful ways with others, and can provide healing to the innermost wounded parts of you.

Because our work is collaborative, we go at your pace. There is no deadline, no pressure, no to-do list. Life is going to life and you are doing the best you can. It’s ok to laugh in therapy! It’s ok to cry, to be mad, to be confused, or to show up however you are. I look forward to working with you!
