Therapy for trauma recovery for adults in washington and colorado

You are tired of feeling guilt, shame, and anxiety. The impacts of stress and trauma are interrupting the life you want to lead. If you are ready to make a change, but still have questions you are in the right place.

As a trauma-informed therapist, I’m here to help you move toward inner peace and alignment with yourself and your relationships from a systemic approach. Below you will find answers to commonly asked questions.

Free Consultation
  • What is the first step?

We will start with a free, 20 minute consultation to learn more about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and answer any questions you have for me.

If you would like, we can then schedule the first session to gain more of a foundation for therapy.

The first session will be 50-60 minutes long. We will clarify more of your goals (this can take 3-4 sessions), but more importantly, I want to hear your story that brings you here.

  • Sessions typically range around 45-50 minutes. If you are using insurance, they need to be a minimum of 53 minutes.

I recommend starting out with weekly sessions. Weekly sessions will give us a stronger foundation on which to accomplish your goals. When you reach a point where you would like to decrease session frequency to every other week, or ad hoc, we can discuss what that will look like at that time.

  • I use a combination of Internal Family Systems, narrative therapy, and nervous system therapy. This combination allows you to learn the skills to ground and create internal safety and regulation in order to connect to your inner system of parts that are interrupting your desired relationships.

I view problems as stemming from systemic influences on your life. Our biological, psychological, cultural, political, and social systems create narratives that we internalize over time. We will look at the systems that have influenced you since childhood that are no longer serving you, and construct new narratives to help you find agency in your life.

  • A 24 hour notice is required for any type of cancellation. Cancellations received within 24 hours will result in a half session fee of $75.

Cancellations within 10 minutes of your session start time, or a no-show, will result in a full session fee of $150.

If you need to cancel for illness or emergency, I will do my best to reschedule you within 5 days of your original appointment. However, I do not make any guarantees that a reschedule will be possible.

  • Investing in your mental health is priceless! Taking care of our mental health can mean saving costs for physical health issues, as well as save you time and energy.

The first intake session is $175 and subsequent sessions are $150.

I am in-network with Premera in Washington (and will be soon with Anthem in Colorado). However, insurance spots are limited. If you need to use insurance, and spots are filled, you are welcome to join a waitlist. I will also be happy to work with you to find a referral that may have openings.

  • Limitations to mental health care when using insurance include the following:

    1. I must give you a mental health diagnosis which can impact life insurance, job qualifications, etc.

    2. Insurance only pays a fraction of my rate. In order to maintain high ethical standards and keep mental health services sustainable, I need to limit these sessions.

    3. Insurance may only cover a limited number of sessions.

    4. Insurance may come back after payment and revoke benefits, leaving you in an unexpected financial lurch.

Self pay can offer complete confidentiality, as well as provide consistent expectations on what to expect financially. In addition, you have more autonomy over the length of therapy.
